How to use cycle essentials
The disc:
To insert, pinch the menstrual disc and guide it back, then push the disc upward and back until the front rim tucks securely behind your pubic bone. For removal, wash your hands thoroughly, then use your index finger to gently separate the disc from this position. Simply rinse your menstrual disc with warm water between insertions to prevent bacterial infection.
The wash:
For cup cleaning during your cycle, rinse your menstrual cup with cold water and pump foaming wash directly onto cup. Thoroughly clean cup and rinse well with warm water. For vulva cleaning, use nixit wash on the external vaginal area only.
The wipes:
Use our nixit menstrual cup wipes during your cycle to clean your cup on-the-go without water. Remove wipe from packet and wipe cup clean before re-inserting. Our wipes can also be used as a personal wipe.

Yes, the cycle essentials bundle was built with first-time disc users in mind. The disc's flexible rim and soft silicone make it forgiving to insert, and the wash and wipes give you a straightforward routine for keeping it (and you) clean from day one. Most people feel confident within one to two cycles. If you can use a tampon, you can use the disc.
Is one size really right for everyone?
The nixit disc is designed to fit most adult bodies, whether or not you've given birth. Its flexible silicone rim adjusts to seat properly in the vaginal fornix, so one size covers a wide range of anatomy. If you have specific concerns, it's worth a quick chat with your healthcare provider.
Is the disc safe to use with an IUD?
nixit is safe to wear with an IUD when used as directed, but we do recommend consulting with your physician before first use regarding your particular IUD.
How do I know the wash and wipes are safe for my body?
Both nixit wash and nixit wipes are pH-balanced and fragrance-free, with no glycerin, so they won't throw off your body's pH balance the way many soaps and wipes can. They're made in Canada and formulated specifically for intimate skin. If you have sensitive skin, we recommend a patch test before regular use.
How does the disc work?
The nixit disc is a soft, flexible ring of medical-grade silicone that you fold and insert like a tampon. Once in place, it seats in the vaginal fornix, at the base of the cervix, where it collects flow instead of absorbing it. You can wear it for up to 12 hours, sleep in it, and have sex with it in, since it sits above the vaginal canal instead of blocking it. We have some great ‘how-to’ videos here.
